About the creator:
My name is Sabrina Carey and welcome to the Careying Nook. I am currently working on My Instructional Technology Masters Degree. I received my bachelors in ESE (exceptional Student Education) I have been teaching for 4 years now and I currently serve middle school students with Autism. I really enjoy the challenge of working with this demographic. These students really push me to differentiate my lessons as well as individualizing their education to meet the needs of each student in my class.
Teaching ESE
I became interested in helping students with special needs when I started observing my mothers classroom. My mom teaches students with autism, she would often invite me in to help out. As I would observe these students I noticed that they needed a lot of one on one time, not only that but many of them would often need extra help. I would consider myself a pretty patient and creative person. In think thing this it helped me to realize that students with learning disabilities need a patient teacher that will take the extra time to help the student until they grasp the concept. These students also need someone who is going to think outside of the box that other teachers have put him or her in. They need new creative ways of learning and styles that can adapt to their unique learning styles.
